My understanding of beauty didn’t come from a classroom. It came from the grain of violin wood, and from the slow, patient layering of oil paint. Those two things taught me a lesson no business school could: the things worth doing can’t be rushed.

Glamour is what happens when you live by that lesson.

I’ve never played the violin.

When I was a teenager, I walked into a luthier’s workshop for the first time. He handed me a freshly made violin and pointed to the grain on its top plate. “Look,” he said. “Every tree is different. Whatever years that wood has lived through—that’s what kind of sound it will make.”

I didn’t understand at the time. But in that moment, something hit me.

It wasn’t the violin. It was the way he looked at the wood—that focus, that patience, that quiet certainty about slowness.

 



Later, I started painting, and felt the same thing. On a canvas, you can’t finish in one stroke. You lay down one layer, wait for it to dry, then adjust. You have to embrace the imperfect process to arrive at the right moment

 

 

These experiences shaped how I see beauty:


Beauty isn’t instant. It’s time. It’s focus. It’s a little bit of sweat equity.

 

Then I entered the skincare industry. And things looked different than I’d imagined.

I saw too many promises of “fast results,” and ingredient lists growing more and more complicated. The industry kept telling us: faster, faster, faster—and you’ll be better.

But a voice inside me kept asking:

If skincare really works that fast, then why does our skin still look so unhappy?

I started to think: a violin takes hundreds of hours of a luthier’s hands to find its voice. A painting takes layering and waiting to reach its depth. So how could skin care ever be a rush?

I don’t want to build a “fast” brand.

I want to build a brand that works like a luthier—willing to spend real time on a piece of wood. Like a painter—willing to wait for a layer of color. Like a musician—willing to practice a passage a thousand times

I want to build a brand that, in the moment you use it, makes you feel: I care about you.

 

That’s Glamour 

My confidence comes from people who are “friends with time”

Behind every Glamour product stands a group of people who are as “old-school” as I am.

Our R&D team is nearly a hundred strong. They’re not generalists who know a little about everything. They’re specialists—in dermatology, bioengineering, fine chemistry—each one deeply rooted in their field for over a decade.

They don’t chase trends. They ask one question: what does skin science actually need?

 

In 2018, we made a bold decision: to become the first company in the world to apply BFS aseptic filling technology at scale in cosmetics.

You know what I mean? This technology is expensive, it’s complex, and most people stay away from it. But it lets us deliver one thing: clean, high-efficacy, precision skincare.

People ask me: why take on something so hard?

I say: because the things that truly matter are never easy.

 

In 2022, we led the effort to set an industry standard. In 2023, that standard went into effect. We didn’t make a big announcement about it. Because to us, it wasn’t about showing off. It was just the work we needed to do.

When we commit to something, we do it as well as we can. Not to prove anything. Just to honor the work itself.

Why do I bring music and art into this brand?

Because I realized something:

The resonance of a violin, the color of a painting, the texture of a skincare product—they move us in the same way. Care lives in the details.

I often think: when someone uses Grammu, what she should feel isn’t just “my skin looks better.”

She should feel—

 

In those few minutes before a busy day begins, a moment that belongs entirely to her.

In the quiet of a late night, a small whisper to herself: You did good today. Rest.

That’s what I mean by “Five-Sense Healing.”

 

· Sight: the lively color on the packaging—bold like pop art, rhythmic, never loud.

· Sound: the soft click of the lid opening, and a melody that’s yours—slow down, listen.

· Touch: the texture as it meets your skin—gentle, steady, as if saying, I’m here.

· Scent: a subtle fragrance—present, but never overwhelming.

· Taste: maybe the tea or coffee that accompanies the ritual—take your time.

When the senses come together, skincare is no longer a chore. It becomes a quiet conversation with yourself.

 

I’m not just making skincare. I’m creating a reason for you to be gentle with yourself.

What I want to say to you

I know the world is in a hurry.

But I want to tell you: it’s okay to slow down.

Everyone is telling you: faster, faster. Work faster. Grow faster. Change faster.

You can choose a product not because it promises the quickest results, but because it makes you feel at ease. You can take a few minutes to care for yourself—not because your skin demands it, but because you deserve it.

Glamour won’t sell you a “7-day miracle.”

What we will give you is this:

I’m good friends with Anna, the founder of Glamour.
I make music; she makes skincare. Different fields, but the same values.
At five years old, I picked up the violin for the first time.
My mother asked me, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”
I said, “I want to use the violin to make the world a better place.”


I’ve kept that promise for over thirty years.
From practicing alone as a child and studying far from home, to touring the world, teaching at a university, and then researching music therapy—so that music can not only be art, but also heal.

 


In 2024, I stood on the stage of the world’s most prestigious medical conference, the WCLC (World Conference on Lung Cancer), and gave a talk on music therapy.
I was the first artist ever invited to speak there.
From Carnegie Hall to the halls of medicine, and to a Grammy nomination—all because of that simple belief I had at five years old:
Beautiful things take time. They require persistence. They demand devoted effort.
Then I read Glamour’s brand story and understood immediately.
Anna says, “Things truly worth doing can’t be rushed.”
She says Glamour doesn’t want to be a fast brand. It wants to work like a luthier or a painter—willing to spend time on a piece of wood, willing to wait for a layer of paint to dry.
Music cannot be rushed, and neither can skincare.
What truly moves people takes time.
I often tell my students:
“I want to be a little sun, shining on you. And you must become more little suns, shining on others.”
Glamour is just such a quiet little sun.
Finally, let me share with you my most beloved piece, Wild Geese in Flight.
I wrote it in 2015 by the sea in Los Angeles. It will be officially released at the end of this year.
It is not about a distant place, but the road home.
Dedicated to those who are willing to fly slowly, yet always remember their direction.
